HAZMAT Services

CONFINED SPACE ENTRY

A variety of hazards can be found in a confined space work environment. Careful planning and preparation of all personnel involved is essential to insure that the project is completed without serious injury or death.

Action maintains an ongoing training program insuring that all of our employees are fully certified in Confined Space Entry and Evacuation.

Using state of the art field assessment equipment, Action identifies what hazards exist, along with the procedures and personal protection required, before entry is allowed.

Does Your Facility Contain One or More of the Following?

STORAGE TANKS

Whether above or below the ground, confined spaces used for the storage of petroleum products, chemicals and other substances can often absorb or retain material. When the space is emptied for maintenance, this absorbed material can leach back out of the walls. This creates a dangerous oxygen deficient and often explosive condition.

MECHANICAL OPERATIONS

Normal maintenance activities such as welding, painting, or industrial cleaning done within a confined space can be potentially very dangerous. Sudden changes in temperature, combined with the release of petrochemical fumes of methane gas, can create unstable environments that may produce volatile reactions.

VAULTS, BASEMENTS, TUNNELS

Special care must be taken with spaces such as telephone vaults, tunnels and basement crawl spaces where components may be creating noxious and explosive gases. These areas can often contain rechargeable batteries, which during recharging operations can produce significant levels of explosive gases. In addition to being explosive, these gases displace the amount of oxygen present, creating an oxygen depleted condition that requires supplied air for work personnel.

As illustrated in the photos, Action has experience in all areas of confined space/Hazardous Materials work. From the site assessment, to the transportation and disposal of the generated hazardous waste, Action Environmental will complete the project within budget, and in the time frame desired.

PAINT BOOTH DISMANTLING

CONVERSION OF MANUFACTURING SPACE FOR A NEW TENANT
RENOVATION OR MAINTENANCE OF AN EXISTING FACILITY

Action has the demolition background, along with the HAZMAT certification to provide controlled dismantling of paint booth assemblies. All waste removed to be properly characterized, with the appropriate waste manifests supplied upon completion of the project. Components designated to remain, to be decontaminated and verified clean using rinseate sampling protocol.
